This has been a good year for gaming, with the likes of Uncharted 4, Dark Souls 3, Far Cry Primal and Witcher 3 among the new releases. But, there are 8 games that are left this year that literally have me checking my calendar every single day. Funnily enough, not one of them is an original and some are even remastered versions of old games. Still, developers or the original games are the reason why I play so here goes:
The World of Warcraft : Legion (August 30th)
The legendary game of games that sucks the life out of people and transports them to another world (of Warcraft). After a hiatus post Mists of Pandaria, Legion will be my return to the game as well as, if rumors are to be believed, WoW’s return to greatness.
Bioshock: The Collection (September 16th)
All the Bioshock games, remastered in 1080p and 60 fps — it sounds awesome and breathes life back into the series. I’m most excited to play Bioshock 1 all over again, which was one of the biggest surprises in the gaming industry way back in 2007. 2K games is currently looking into more games for the series, but I believe that will take a little time.
Mafia 3 ( October 7th)
Mafia is back with its third instalment, which takes place in New Orleans. The open world game has rivalled GTA for a while now. I personally like the Mafia series a lot because of the characters and personality (not that I don’t like GTA [I Love it!])
Civilization VI (October 21st)
Sid Meier has been cashing in with this series for what seems like decades now. This comes as a PC only game that will build upon the successes of the previous Civilizations. I really hope they bring a version of this game to the consoles though!
Elder Scrolls Skyrim : Special Edition (October 28th)
This is a no-brainer. After playing countless hours on the Xbox, I felt so incomplete when I first switched to the PS4. I marvelled at the unjustness of not having this game on the PS4 and looked for some hope or news that would suggest the contrary, almost daily. And Bethesda delivered — the game will remain the same but has been remastered with better graphics and mods. I am so excited to bring a new Dragonborn to life.
Dishonored 2 (November 11th)
Dishonored is one of my favorites of all time. The variety that the game presents translates into unlimited re-playability, which in itself makes it a brilliant game. Add to that the game mechanics and no-nonsense story line and it might be one of the best games of the 2000s. And now, Dishonored 2 is just around the corner.
Watch Dogs 2 (November 15th)
Watch Dogs 2 looks like an incredible upgrade to Watch Dogs, which was released in 2014, where the protagonist goes around town (Chicago in the original and San Francisco in the new version) using technology to take people and technology down. CAN’T WAIT.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole (December 6th)
Matt and Trey are the twin alchemists of modern pre-pubescent entertainment. Every fart joke, every rat carnage and every video game they touch turns to gold. After the WILD success and brilliance of The Stick of Truth, the “Men who farted gold flakes” are now bringing to the plebeians of the world, The Fractured But Whole (BEST TITLE EVER)
